Trump admin aiming for the gold standard in infant formula

01Β Β Iowa's cancer rates spark big MAHA concerns
Iowa has the highest cancer rates of any state in the country. Former HHS senior adviser Calley Means called it "ground zero" for the Make America Healthy Again movement at a rally outside Des Moines this week, asking why the place we think of when we think of American agriculture also has the highest cancer burden.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Lahn has made the issue central to his campaign, connecting Iowa's farm economy to the health of its residents. The connection between what farmers grow, what ends up on shelves, and what happens to the people eating it is not a side issue. It is the issue, and Iowa is where the MAHA movement believes real change can be made.
02Β Β Most Americans want stricter rules on food chemicals
Close to three-quarters of Americans support regulating chemicals and additives in food, according to a University of Pennsylvania study. The number holds whether someone backs the MAHA movement or not. Labeling ultra-processed foods (foods made mostly from industrial ingredients you would not find in a home kitchen) had the highest support at 80 percent. Removing processed foods from school lunches ranked near the top for everyone.
The finding matters because it suggests food reform is not going away, even if the political landscape shifts in the coming years.

Why Halle Berry Bet on This Probiotic

When Halle Berry, someone who could partner with anyone, chooses a probiotic company, you pay attention. The brand she got behind, Pendulum, founded by PhD scientists from Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Berkeley, and Stanford, showed that appetite can stem from the microbiome.
Their breakthrough was uncovering one of the most beneficial strains for naturally curbing cravings, then developing the technology to deliver it in a bioavailable way, so it arrives in your colon where it can actually work.
They've improved countless lives with their Metabolic Daily probiotic, powered by Akkermansia muciniphila. This probiotic strengthens gut lining, improves digestive health, and supports GLP-1 signal pathways.* With 100s of 5-star reviews, 4.5K+ mentions of Akkermansia in scientific publications, and 29K+ medical professional recommendations for Pendulum, the science speaks for itself. HSA/FSA eligible.

03Β Β Trump admin aiming for the gold standard in infant formula
Since 1998, the rules for what goes into infant formula have barely changed. On Thursday, the FDA proposed new nutrient requirements that would adjust limits for iodine, vitamins A and D, and manganese. For the first time, there would be a cap on manganese. The agency says this is phase one of a three-part review covering all 30 required nutrients.
The push traces back to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who launched Operation Stork Speed in March 2025. Formula has been a target for the health movement because of concerns about added sugar and low nutritional quality.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed FDA restrictions on six unapproved peptides, letting compounding pharmacies manufacture and use them while the agency continues its review. The FDA had previously flagged all six for significant safety risks.
Over 100,000 bottles of ValuHealth acetaminophen are under recall because the inner label says "Pain Relief PM" (which contains a sedative) while the bottle actually holds regular Extra Strength.
